We are looking for someone interested in delivering engaging journalism, as a news or sports reporter in Vimmerby and Hultsfred.

As a reporter with us, you will come up with your own ideas, write and take photos with a focus on our digital channels, live report on everything from major events to emergency services coverage, manage social media, and film and edit video content.

Vimmerby Tidning works every day to create leading news coverage. During a summer internship with us, you will work in a creative environment, help scrutinize important societal issues, and capture local buzz. You will be part of the team from day one and have a group of engaged and helpful colleagues. We are looking for someone with a strong commitment and interest in local journalism and a passion for telling stories that resonate with people's everyday lives. You are curious, flexible, independent, can immerse yourself in new issues, and actively work to ensure your publications capture readers' interest. We have a digital focus with clear goals where readers are always at the center, so we appreciate if you are skilled at packaging your own material.

We value independent idea generation and a strong network highly. For our sports editorial team, we are looking for reporters with sports expertise who are ready to cover, for example, football, speedway, and portray personal life stories related to the world of sports.

• Have a passion for journalism and a drive to convey news that helps the audience in their daily lives.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment where tasks may be prioritized based on the news situation.
• Are curious, enjoy meeting new people, and are willing to learn new things.
• Have a good sense of language, can understand angles, and convey straightforward news in text.
• Have basic knowledge of photography and film (with mobile and/or DSLR).
• Have knowledge of journalism such as interview techniques, research, information gathering, source criticism, and news packaging.
• Are interested in working with social media and creating news in video format for our digital channels.
• It’s a plus if you have or are studying a journalism degree or equivalent, or have relevant work experience.

About the position:

The internships may involve working hours during the day, evenings, and weekends.

A driver's license (B) is required as driving is part of the job.
